Djemaa el Fna

One Of A Kind Tourist Attraction Site You Should Visit In Morocco

There are many tourists’ attractions in Morocco but place you must never miss the chance to visit when you are in Morocco is Djemaa el Fna. This is place of its kind on the planet and I can assure you once you visit you will develop an instant addiction for the place and you will want to go back there more and more provided you are still in town. The place runs both day at night however the day is just a hint of the spectacle that is there in the evening. The place is a good blend of a street theatre and a food market or more specifically a food Bazaar.

The theatre part of this blend is made up of performances from acrobats ,dancers and musicians who will completely draw your attention with their extraordinary performances. In the midst of all these performances there are various water hawkers dressed in beautiful costumes ready to be of service to you. There are also very many stalls lit up with Lanterns selling food and refreshments that add up to the beauty of the whole place.

Ait Benhaddou

Traveling in Ait Benhaddou

Ait Benhaddou is a Mud Brick city situated on the brink of the High Atlas Mountains. The city has been featured in various movies as a substitute for Jerusalem. Ait Benhaddou can be accessed from Marrakesh and Quarzazate. However, there are no buses that travel straight to the city. As soon as you reach the Ksar, you can simply take a walk.

There are two main passages in getting into the Ksar. The first one can be reached through the new extension and the second one can be crossed via the stream. Following the passage in the extension, the transportation service hired to go around Ait Benhaddou charges extra. The town of Ait Benhaddou is the primary attraction, with mud structures moving up the side of the slope. The Granary at the highest point of the slope is noteworthy and certainly justified regardless of the extreme effort to reach the area.

Erg Chebbi

The Erg Chebbi of Morocco

An Erg is a natural geographical feature found in the desert. It's a sea of dunes created by wind-blown sand. There are two in the Sahara desert of Morocco (an African country) , one being Erg Chebbi while the other's known as Erg Chigaga.

Erg chebbi's dunes can reach up to 150 meters high and collectively span a very vast area of about 50 km ( from North to South ) and 5-10 km ( East to West).

It's beauty attracts tourists from all over the world. That in turn has resulted in the creation of a tourist center right on the outskirts of the dunes, Merzouga. Tour companies from here offer long camel rides deep into the desert than can well last overnight!

Another selling point of Erg Chebbi that even attracts local villagers is it's sand's therapeutic properties! It's believed that being buried from the neck downwards in the sand for short periods at a time in the warmer days of the season will help cure Rheumatism.

Two Historical Places To Visit If You Are In Fes

Fes emerged as a tourist destination only in the recent years. The aromatic local food, the skilled craftsmanship, the musky smell of leather, the endless line of caravans, and the beautiful mosques were too tempting for travelers to leave behind. Here are two of the best historical places you should visit if you are in Fes.

Kairaouine Mosque: It is undoubtedly one of the largest mosques in Africa, and it is the spiritual hub of the local population. This mosque also serves as a university, and it is one of the oldest educational universities in the world. Non Muslims are not allowed to enter the mosque, but it is worth having a glimpse from outside.

Nejjarine Museum: This is a museum where wooden crafts are preserved and beautifully displayed. The place allows you to discover the skilled craftsmanship of the natives of Fes and you get a glimpse of the traditional art of the locals.
